  3. 2/22/11   Clear to Your Diver . . . Even in Murky Waters - by Kirk Hathaway “ . . .with over 300 vessels cared for in 2010, a number of issues frequently surfaced calling for attention below the waterline. So, whether as a primer for new boat owners or a welcomed checklist for seasoned boaters, this list of issues might help you keep on top of things and your craft riding high.”

  4. 11/14/10   A Taste of Beaufort By the Sea - by Landie Maher “The seaside town of Beaufort has been welcoming sailors from all over the world for hundreds of years.  Beaufort is a port town, a pirate town,  a beautiful town mixed with down-home locals and an influx of people from all over. Whether it’s new-comers, tourists or travelers on their way to some exotic locale, Beaufort is a must for everyone, and in it you’ll find a little bit of everything.”

  5. 11/14/10   Pete Crawford and His Amazing TillerClutch™ -- ACT 1 - “As boaters bound to small spaces we have need to groom ourselves to such neat habits, and do if we are lucky.  But for Crawford, the precision and detail of this space was clearly a reflection of his own mind, a mind equally sharp, precise, and keenly projecting forward on a project.”

  6. 3/6/10  An Introduction to SHYC and a Family... Of Sort - “Here, I had the opportunity to meet...Dock Master Landon Winstead who, in the super hero atmosphere of proud and dynamic members of the yacht club, plays a mild mannered, humble Clark Kent like role.”

  7. 3/6/10  Donny and Dianna Helbich: The Myth and Reality of Neptune Yachts - “It was a life as dreamy as the Swiss Family Robinson, charting by traditional sextant and catching fish with aluminum strips torn from potato chip bags.” A brief narrative about the Helbich’s and their creation of Neptune Yachts.

  8. 1/09/10  Photo Feature: Sky Tour of Coastal Carolina

  9. Please enjoy a New Years gift, a little late perhaps, but intended to give all of us coastal enthusiasts another view of the North Carolina waters we value so much.  The slide show: Sky Tour of Coastal Carolina was photographed in the fall of 2009, a week before powerful storm devastated much of the coastline seen within the slideshow.

  10. 12/09 (revised)  Edward Rokosz: Historic Restoration and Art - “I like waterfront towns,” he admitted telling me of his own property near the Black Sea in his native Poland, “but I choose views from the land, not the sea.” An introduction to the fine art and craftsmanship of Edward Rokosz, a man responsible for preservation of historic homes in New Bern, Bath, and Edenton.

  11. 9/09  Lynn Mehta: Art and Process - “All the colors were there in my little sketch.  I had captured it all in the darkness out on the boat.” Artist Lynn Mehta explores one of her many landscape paintings produced while sailing on waters adjacent to the Pamlico Sound
